starting in the middle

When I read a book, I start on the first page. Not the first page of the story but the actual first page. I read it all - the acknowledgements, the introduction, the publisher's information, the endorsements. I want the context. I want the whole thing.

So starting a blog now feels strange. How do I start telling a story when we're smack dab in the middle of it? I'd like to go back in time and fill you in on everything that brought us to this point, but our story is moving fast. Sometimes it even feels like it's rushing ahead of me. So this is where I'll start...with today, July 31, 2012...my darling daughter dozing on my chest...my heart so full of gratitude for this adventure...already celebrating the next bend in the road. I can just barely see it off in the distance.

I smile, kiss my girl on the top of the head and tell her it's going to be a big one.
